Instrument Classes

Start of main content

Students enrolled in instrument classes (String Department, Woodwind Department and Keyboard Department) will receive at least five individual lessons and five collective lessons. In addition, the subject of Orchestra (Junior or Youth, depending on their academic level) or the workshop "Harpsichord and piano in the orchestra" will be included directly in their registration. Students will attend at least seven sessions.

Students enrolled in instrument classes of the Voice, Conducting and Composing Departments will receive comprehensive courses.

Those instrument students who, in addition, want to attend as auditors to their professor's classes may do so as many times as they wish, as long as they do not interfere with class dynamics. Those who register exclusively in the mode of auditor will not opt for the practical part of the instrument classes.

Each full professor is free to pedagogically choose the criteria, teaching methods and materials to be used in class.

Students are required to specify on the registration form two musical studies of different styles that they have worked on during the previous academic year, and one musical work (for solo instrument or with piano accompaniment) to study during their stay at the School (once the Summer Courses have commenced, the piece may not be changed if it involves piano accompaniment).

The Summer Courses' instrument classes are organised according to the following chart:
