
Yuri Nasushkin
Yuri Nasushkin, Artistic director of the Prince of Asturias Foundation International Music School.
Artistic Director of the Prince of Asturias Foundation International Music School and professor at the “Eduardo Martínez Torner” Advanced Conservatory of Music, he was born in Kiev, the Ukraine. He studied at the Tchaikovsky Advanced Conservatory of Music in his home town and graduated from the “Gnesin” State Musical College in Moscow, where he subsequently obtained his Doctor’s degree in Violin and Orchestral Conducting. He studied violin with Alexei Pélij, Oleg Krysa and Vladimir Spivakov and conducting with Serguei Gorchakov, Oleg Agarkov, Isai Alterman, Serguei Skripka and Arturo Tamayo. He taught violin, chamber music and orchestral music at the Advanced Conservatory of Music in Kishiniov, Moldavia, and was first violin and assistant to the incumbent conductor of the Moldavian Radio Television Chamber Orchestra. He was also first violin with the Moldavian National Opera and Ballet Symphonic Orchestra and first violin with the Moldavian Radio Television String Quartet, as well as soloist with the Moldavian Philharmonic.
He has taught on the “Moscow Virtuosi” International Courses (1991-1993) and is founder and director of the "Young Oviedo" International Courses. He is also founder and artistic director of the Principality of Asturias Youth Symphony Orchestra (1997-2008) and has been artistic director of the Community of Madrid Youth Symphony Orchestra (2004-2007). He was guest conductor for the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Advanced School of Music in Oporto, Portugal (2004-2007), as well as guest teacher at the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE) and of the World Youth Orchestra on several occasions.
Yuri Nasushkin has taught advanced courses of violin in Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Hungary, Finland, Franc and Italy, among other countries. He has performed in Spain, Germany, France, Israel, Finland, Bulgaria and Russia. Noteworthy among the works he has premiered as orchestra conductor are the opera, La Doncella del Norte (Vesanto, Finland, 1998), and several opuses by Spanish, Ukrainian, Moldavian and Russian composers. He has taken part in the “Young Euro Classic” Festival (Berlin, 2004) and in the major festivals in Spain.
He has formed part of a violin and piano duo with Lidia Stratulat, soloist and teacher at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid, for over 30 years. The repertoire of this ensemble embraces all musical styles and they have premiered numerous works by contemporary composers.
